First Listen! Souldynamic feat. Jocelyn Mathieu – Fine Wine (Original Mix) (Tribe Records)
I suppose it won’t make an offense to anybody sayin’ that if ever some people have a clear idea as to what some fine wine is, this most likely brings us to both the Italians and Frenchies. As not only, their native countries are the craddle of some of the most reputed vineyards in the world. But they also proved as to how they have the art of comin’ up with the perfect choice for each circumstances.
Mind you, refinement and good taste are simply a matter of surroundings and therefore culture at the end. With the Mediterranean Basin bringin’ us back to the origins of hedonism. In other words, “a school of thought that argues that pleasure and happiness are the primary or most important intrinsic goods and the proper aim of human life” (Wikipedia).
From then on, each single detail has its importance. But once again, as long as avoiding falling into overproduction. Just like ladies finding the right make-up depending on the light of the day. Meanwhile, this is just what we have here. With Souldynamic coming up in a deep smooth and jazzy mood with stellar keys. Therefore delivering the perfect environment for Jocelyn Mathieu‘s soothing vocal performance.
So what you just gotta do is let yourself go and enjoy this glass of… fine wine. Then eventually let us know what you think…

– Italian twosome Luca Ciotoli and Stefano De Magistris officially gave birth to Souldynamic in the second half of the 2000’s. They eventually made their debut at the beginning of 2007 with ‘The Past As The Future’. A cut which they dropped right on time for the Miami WMC, on Bobby & Steve‘s Zoo Groove Stereo Recordings. Since then, they had many releases. Licensing their music/remixes on some of the most acclaimed record labels. From King Street Sounds to Tony Records, Soulfuric and Code Red to name a few. Working with some of the most in-demand singers such as Ann Nesby, Robert Owens and Dawn Tallman. But also Ultra Naté, Darryl D’Bonneau and Pete Simpson among others.
They stand on a consistent amount of gems where quality and delicacy prevail. From ‘Make A Choice’ featuring Roland Clark back in 2008 to ’99&half’ along with Susu Bobien in July 2009. But also ‘Summershine’ featuring Leslie Carter which they released that same week on Code Red.
”Revival’ featuring Adeola Shyllon which saw the light on Purple Music most likely completes the list. Eventually receiving a heavy support from some of the key DJ’s/producers in the world, beginning with Tony Humphries. The latter releasing ‘Love’ featuring Angela Johnson on his Tony Records label. A cut which received remixing work courtesy of Terry Hunter and N’Dinga Gabba. Meanwhile we could also add the jazzy Calypsoid ‘Equatoriale’ back in 2015 on Tribe Records.
– Hailing from Paris singer/songwriter Jocelyn Mathieu stands in the vein of that handful of France-based singers who’ve generated respect abroad. A list where are to be found Ladybird, Mani Hoffman and Chris Wonder for instance. The list of the producers he’s been working with speakin’ for itself. From Alex Finkin and Reverend P on the memorable ‘Those Days Are Gone’ which Louie Vega licensed on his Vega Records label back in 2009. To Ralf GUM, Silvia Zaragoza and UPZ. But also DJ Pope (‘Ma Ma Warn Me’) and Souldynamic (‘Fine Wine’). Not to mention Deep Roger (‘Never Gonna Be The Same’)…
