Steve Spacek – Dollar (Sound In Color)

The brother of UK Drum & Bass artist DBridge, Steve Spacek, who know resides in Sydney, Australia, teamed up back during the second half of the 90’s with guitarist Edmund Cavill and drummer Morgan Zarate to form Spacek (also known as Spacek Sound System). Together, they would release two albums, respectively in 2001 and 2003, in an excting avant-gardist approach, fusing elements of R&B, Hip-Hop, Broken Beat and Soul. That same approach one could hear 2 years later on Steve Spacek‘s solo album – ‘Spaceshift’ – and its lead single – ‘Dollar’ – embedding a sample of Billy Paul‘s Let The Dollar Circulate’ with production work courtesy of the late J Dilla. King Britt describing it as what Curtis Mayfield would have been doin’ back then…
