Tears For Fears – Woman In Chains (Fontana)

Despite an undeniable talent, Oleta Adams would only make it after meeting Tears For Fears‘s leaders Roland Orzabal and Curtis Smith who, while touring in America, heard her singing in Kansas City back in 1985. Quite impressed they invited her to join them on their 1989 released ‘The Seeds of Love’ as a singer and pianist.
We catch her here on one of the two songs she would lead (along with ‘Badmzn’s Song’). In other words, the lascivious ‘Woman In Chain’ featuring Phil Collins on drums, with mixing work courtesy of Bob Clearmountain.
Oleta would soon after be offered a recording contract on the same label, restarting her solo career the year after, along with Orzabal producing her ‘Circle of One’ album including her biggest success to date: her cover version of Brenda Russell‘s ‘Get Here’…
