First listen! Thandi Draai – Down On Me (Monodeluxe Boutique Mix) (Vibe Boutique Records)
There is definitely something of Ultra Naté in this lady. In the way she looks. But also on the obvious dynamism she shows off to display her talent. Vocally speaking, in terms of production and also behind the decks. Four years have gone since she first appeared in the circuit. And she’s already been working with luminaries such as Boddhi Satva and Culoe De Song. Not to mention Da Capo and Charles Webster to name but a few.
With her uplifting ‘Down On Me’ given a new set of remixes, her delicate voice reaches a new dimension. With thanks to a new environment which Switzerland-based Italian producer Monodeluxe has crafted for her. Delivering a sophisticated blend of jazzy deep vibes somehow reminding of Vick Lavender‘s approach…

Hailing from the small town of Margate, South Africa, Thandi Draai‘s passion for music began when she was just a little girl. Music was a great way to escape from reality. And ever since that experience, she has never looked back. One of Draai‘s highlights was her performance at the International Dance Competition which occured in the South Coast of KZN back in 2003. There, she dazzled the crowd with her magical voice. A truly overwhelming feeling for her, she then knew that music was her calling.
Thandi Draai moved to Johannesburg in 2010 to pursue her career in music. She did her first recording at Ma-Pee productions where one of the local DJ’s, DJ BOngz, was working on a album. Thandi appeared on a couple of songs from the ‘Mystic Soul’ album. She then continued to spread her wings even further, reaching the hearts and souls of music consumers.
Thandi then met the family at Soulcandi Institute Of Music. There she worked on a couple of projects with Soulcandi crew members Kudoskelem and Juvinale Dee. She later met Soulcandi’s very own House producers V. Underground and Cuebur. And she also co-wrote ‘Dreamer’ with Mi Casa‘s J’Something. A joint that saw her teamin’ up with Ultra Tone back in 2011, becoming one of her greatest international releases.
Life brings the most inspiration into Thandi’s music creations, from the positive to the negative aspects. From then, she has worked with countless producers. From Charles Webster (‘Freedom’) to Jus Native (‘Crazy Love’) and Cuebur (‘I’m In Love’). Not to mention Zandy Shejay (‘Journey Into My Heart’). And Josi Chave on ‘I Luv Da Waya’, from the recently released ‘Noise Of Africa’ compilation on Blacknoize Records. Meanwhile, she released ‘Down On Me’ under her own banner with a stellar remix courtesy of Monodeluxe.
Thandi Draai is currently working on her debut album. Be on the lookout for this exciting project filled with sensational, exotic and captivating sounds, vocals and melodies for a real sentimental drive…
