The Christians – Born Again (Remix)

Lost but not least! The Christians – Born Again (Remix) (Island)

As far as I can remember I’ve always felt something special for The Christians. Beginning with Gary A Christian‘s one of a kind of voice. But also their music which resulted in gems such as ‘Forgotten Town’, Words’, and ‘What’s In A World’. This in addition to their cover version of the Isley Brothers‘ ‘Harvest For The World’, their biggest success ever. And, last but not least, the vibrant ‘Born Again’…

From their 1987 eponymous debut-album, ‘Born Again’ never managed to get the following it deserved though. Be it its original version by the likes of Laurie Latham (Ian Dury & The Blockheads, Paul Young, Echo & The Bunnymen). As its remix courtesy of Justin Strauss. Somehow seeming to find some of its influences on both the key lines of Timmy Thomas‘Why Can’t We Live Together’ and a rhythmic approach alla Sade‘s ‘Smooth Operator’.

Strangely enough, Discogs eventually dared rating ‘Born Again’ as… Pop Rock! C’mon, guys…
