The Crusaders – Street Life (MCA)

A pianist, keyboardist, composer and artist on his own who both enjoyed a successful solo career as working with other luminaries such as Miles Davis, George Benson, B.B. King and Steely Dan to name but a few, Joe Sample, who passed on Sept. 12 last year, was also one of the founding members of The Crusaders.
He, alongside Stix Hooper (drums), Wilton Felder (saxophone), later joined by bass guitarist Robert ‘Pops’ Popwell and guitarist Larry Carlton is equally remembered for the 1979 classic ‘Street Life’, taken from the album of the name, featuring Paulinho Da Costa on percussion, Arthur Adams on guitar and the sultry Randy Crawford on vocals.
A Soul/Jazz manifesto, the 12″ promo copy of ‘Street Life’ stands as an absolute must have for the connoisseurs…
