Lost but not least! Wendy and Lisa – Waterfall (Columbia)
Unless being a fan (and I’ll let you know of who later on), Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman‘s names may not be that familiar to some of you. But when letting you know the future Wendy and Lisa started as members of Prince‘s band The Revolution, things might pretty much change a bit. Wendy acting as a keyboardist/pianist then eventually a singer. And Lisa as a guitarist.
As a matter of fact, these ladies heavily contributed to the success of ‘Purple Rain’. Although not getting the recognition the way they’d expected. This leading them to go their own way back in 1987. Then releasing their debut-album as Wendy and Lisa.
One could definitely get the whole picture as to where they’re coming from when checking their sound. And also tell about the blend of their influences when havin’ a listen to ‘Waterfall’. A psychedelic synth/guitar led rocky song with obvious Funk attitudes over a fat beat. With production work by the likes of Bobby Z. Let’s get ready to rumble!
